Erin's Winter Gaiwan
Erin's Winter Gaiwan
Stoneware・Hand-painted
Thrown from dark stoneware clay, the color of freshly baked gingerbread cookies, each gaiwan in this collection is decorated in a whimsical cacophony of rhythmic brushstrokes and soft color. Speckles of blues, greens, yellows, and bright red are scattered across the surface of the vessel, a bright contrast against the dark clay body.
Inside the gaiwan, a simple layer of white slip serves as a fresh canvas for your tea leaves, which whirl and float with no less whimsy that the confetti-like patterns on the exterior of the pot. A dexterously thrown lid and gently curved rim make pouring simple from these 120ml gaiwans.
This series is accompanied by pairs of Erin's Winter Cups, glazed to match.
* Please take note that each gaiwan can be slightly different in color tone, texture, size, and shape. It is not unusual to have areas of thicker glazing, and or colorations that reflect the different interactions between the mineral content of the clay body and glaze. Each gaiwan is hand made and unique, and may not be identical to the photographed item.
Usage and care: Glazed pots are suitable for all tea types. Simply rinse, or hand wash gently between uses. Mild detergent and a soft sponge are ok.
