Erin's Layered Gaiwan
Erin's Layered Gaiwan
Thrown from medley of dark stoneware clays, Erin’s newest gaiwan for Song Tea features multiple layers of traditional ceramic decorating techniques employed together for a style that is fresh and compelling.
As the eye moves through these depths you’ll find fresh bouquets of red and cobalt slip decals, layered atop loose brushstrokes of earth red underglaze. Below, highlighting these features lies a blanket of white slip, soft and tonal against the richness of the fired clay.
At 160ml, this gaiwan offers a wonderful start to a personal tea brewing session, or an intimate experience for two. Pair it with the corresponding Layered Cups, decorated to match.
* Please take note that each gaiwan can be slightly different in color tone, texture, size, and shape. It is not unusual to have areas of thicker glazing, and or colorations that reflect the different interactions between the mineral content of the clay body and glaze. Each gaiwan is hand made and unique, and may not be identical to the photographed item. Each will be as beautiful.
Usage and care: Glazed pots are suitable for all tea types. Simply rinse, or hand wash gently between uses. Mild detergent and a soft sponge are ok.
