The Founder's Collection is a subscription-based collection of beautiful, esoteric teas specially curated by Song Tea founder Peter Luong.

With over two decades of experience sourcing, crafting, and tasting tea throughout China and Taiwan, Peter is unequivocally well versed in the world of quality tea.

For years, he’s had the task not only of finding every one of the teas we carry, but of having to make the final say on which teas will make the cut into our annual Song Collection. And that latter responsibility is no easy task. Every year, Peter has to pass on a dozen teas that for reasons of scarcity, obscurity, cost, or otherwise, don’t fit within our broader line up. But we just can’t stop thinking about the few teas that we sometimes have to pass on:

Tongue coating, tangy, true Wuyi oolongs. Delicate, unprocessed maochas. Green buds picked just hours after they bloom. These are only a few of the teas Peter has tasted during past sourcing trips and had to leave behind. Until now.

For Volume 07 of The Founder’s Collection, we’re returning to the roots of this special project; creating a year long subscription series featuring a collection of outstanding, enigmatic, and unusual teas Peter comes across during the spring sourcing season. Teas that we don’t carry in our public collection.

The collection ships six times a year, guaranteeing a fresh, exciting selection all year long. Each package includes 1-2 carefully selected teas, along with brewing guidelines, tasting notes and flavor profiles, and a personal note from Peter detailing the origin of each tea, the story of how he found it, and why it made the cut for collection.

Membership is limited to 50 participants.

Your first of six shipment will arrive in July 2026, barring shipment issues at origin. Price is inclusive of shipping.

Each issue of the collection includes two thoughtfully selected teas, along with brewing guidelines, a personal note from Peter detailing the origin of each tea, the story of how he found it, and why it made the cut for the collection.

We estimate 60-90 grams of tea per shipment. However, exact tea quantities may vary depending on the type and rarity of the tea in each shipment.
