Teapot, #2
Teapot, #2
This petite stoneware teapot was hand built by ceramicist Wang Wen De, using a proprietary formulation of clay that creates breathtakingly thin, light pieces. The delicate spout curves jauntily away from the body of the form, balanced with a classically shaped posterior handle. The interior and exterior surfaces of this pot are covered in a matte white glaze.
In an unusual twist of craftsmanship, these teapots are fully hand built rather than turned on a potters wheel, and each vessel exhibits subtle indentations of thumb and finger prints of its maker. This texture adds rhythm to the form and keeps the eye in motion, a constant exploration of a beautiful piece.
