Song Studio Cups in Celadon
Song Studio Cups in Celadon
Wheel thrown・Glazed porcelain
Visitors to the Song studio are always greeted with a cup of tea. It’s our way of saying hello, a gesture of hospitality, a form of connection, and community. Whether you linger and shop, or just pop in for a quick peek, this small cup of tea lets you know you’re always welcome here, whoever you are.
This year’s Song Studio Cup is a refinement over previous iterations. Each cup is thrown by hand on the potter’s wheel by Taiwanese master potter, Zhang Yun Chen. Weighted at the bottom, but tapering off near the lip. With iconic celadon glaze over a light stoneware clay, these cups feature a slightly taller wall than the early iterations of the Song cup, offering an elegant profile and a more generous pour. With prolonged use, tea will begin to ‘season’ these cups, highlighting the gossamer threads of crazing inherent to this glaze.
Song Studio cups are sold in pairs and are presented in a kraft gift box.
Pictured is one in a series of cups. Individual pieces vary somewhat in size and tone, a hallmark of this glazing method, and all hand made work. Please note that while we cannot guarantee that the one we ship is exactly as pictured, what you will receive will be as beautiful.
Usage and care: Hand-wash only, mild detergent is ok.
