Hand-formed・Zhu ni (vermillion clay)・200ml
This is one of five pots we commissioned from a young and promising ceramicist named Pan Yi. We first met and worked with Ms. Pan in 2013, and were impressed by her genuine dedication to her craft, and her family’s artistic history. Her studio is located in Dingshan.
The two character name of this pot means “to hear” and “to smell”. Together they mean to “be heard”, a subtle reference to the bell shape of this tea pot. We commissioned only three pieces in this series. Each is crafted from Huang Long Shan “zhu ni” or vermillion clay.
Artist signature is carved into the underside of the teapot. Seven outlets arranged in a hexagonal pattern allow for quick drainage.
Usage and care: Thoroughly rinse particles of sand from the interior before use. Dedicate one tea type per pot. Eventually, a tea pot will be seasoned with the particular character of a tea. Hand-wash only without soap or detergent.
Dimensions: 60mm tall, 78mm diameter・Pot Name: 聽聞壺・Artist: 潘荑
