Dome Teapot in White
Dome Teapot in White
Soft, voluminous spheres come together in an enchanting new approach to form in Huang Li Chia’s ebullient line of teapots, thrown and hand built from stoneware clay. From her studio in South Eastern Taiwan, shared with her woodworking partner, the artist considers functionality, expression, and beauty as she creates pieces whose characters seem to take on a life of their own.
Covered in a tactile layer of matte engobe, a high clay slurry similar to slip, the exterior of the pot shows hairline crazing and intermittent iron freckles, like a baked meringue fresh from the oven, a characterful contrast to the droplet shaped elements of body, lid, and handle. Inside, the vessel is fully glazed, ensuring a water tight brewing experience.
This teapot is one of a kind.
Usage and care: To clean between uses, simply rinse the pot with hot water and air dry.
