Lotus Vase in Pewter Tone
Lotus Vase in Pewter Tone
Stoneware・Shino
An intriguing new form from Taiwanese master potter, Wang Wen De, this stoneware vase echoes the shape of a lotus root, rising up from murky waters. Hand-built from rich stoneware clay, the surface of the pot is brushed with a thick slurry of slip then glazed a dark pewter, drawing relief and texture to the surface. These lines draw upwards toward the rim of the vase, drawing the eye from shadowed base to lip, and back again.
The perfect vessel to highlight a single winter branch, or exalt a humble stem, this one-of-a-kind piece is complemented by its counterpart in white.
