Hand-made Chashaku
Hand-made Chashaku
This elegant matcha scoop is the perfect accompaniments to our classic chasen, and was carved by hand in Tottori Prefecture on the north eastern coast of Japan. Available in bright, delicate beech wood, or striking dark walnut.
This tool has roots in China, where it was originally crafted from ivory, silver, gold, tortoiseshell, or wood. It traveled west to Japan in the 15th century during Sen no Rikyu’s popularization of the tea ceremony, where it’s shape narrowed slightly to accommodate for the small containers of tea powder used in matcha preparation.
*Please note that handmade items are inherently unique. The scoop you receive may vary slightly from the picture.
Proper Care: prepare whisk for use by dampening in warm water to relax the bamboo fronds. To clean, simply whisk in a bowl of warm water, without soap or detergent. Store upright.
