Bigger than an Udon Bowl Bowl, Charcoal Brown
Bigger than an Udon Bowl Bowl, Charcoal Brown
Shaped similarly to a traditional udon bowl, but with an extended profile to hold more water, this elegant water bowl is an integral component of our gong fu, or dry style tea brewing ritual. Hand thrown on the potter’s wheel from a rich stoneware clay, each piece features clear glaze on the interior for water retention, juxtaposed with a raw clay exterior.
The lines of Miro’s bigger-than-an-udon-bowl bowls are sleek and efficient, an echo of the artist’s previous career in architecture. We’re drawn to this form’s simplicity, particularly when paired with our Wang Wen De tea trays, creating a beautiful, streamlined tea brewing experience.
In our pared back tea brewing style, we begin by heating our teapot, server, and cups, with hot water. This excess liquid is decanted into the bowl, prior to adding tea leaves to our pot. Between teas, we also empty spent tea leaves into this bowl, eliminating trips between the tea table and kitchen and creating a single, singular, tea brewing experience.
The bigger than an udon bowl are available in three unique stoneware colorways- Deep Charcoal, creamy French Vanilla, and rich Speckled Ochre.
