Jin Mu Dan, or Gold Peony, is a relatively young hybrid cultivar, developed by the Wuyi Tea Research Institute. Originally intended for oolongs, its sturdy character has inspired experimentation, and together with our farming partner in Fujian - the same gardens that grow Song’s Huang Mudan - we’ve offered Jin Mu Dan as both a white and red tea in past collections.

This tea softer side of these versatile leaves, harvested young and crafted expediently into a lush green tea.

Picked and processed early April, only single leaves of comparable size were selected for this batch, ensuring a consistent character and quality to the finished tea. The result yielded a very small amount of tea - yet the flavor and depth of this experimental green warrant sharing. The leaves express a vegetal sweetness, ripe with the flavors of early summer.
