金牡丹
Jin Mu Dan, or Gold Peony, is a relatively young hybrid cultivar, developed by the Wuyi Tea Research Institute. Originally intended for oolongs, its sturdy character has inspired experimentation, and together with our farming partner in Fujian - the same gardens that grow Song’s Huang Mudan and Gold Dragonwell - we’ve offered Jin Mu Dan as both a white and red tea in past collections.
This year, we’re featuring a softer side of these versatile leaves, harvested young and crafted expediently into a lush green tea.
Picked and processed during Peter’s visit to Fujian on April 1, only single leaves of comparable size were selected for this batch, ensuring a consistent character and quality to the finished tea. The result yielded a very small amount of tea - just 6kg! - yet the flavor and depth of this experimental green warrant sharing. The leaves express a vegetal sweetness, ripe with the flavors of early summer.
Packaging Guide
Our teas come in your choice of resealable pouches or white kraft gift canisters—both are fully recyclable! Depending on the size of the tea leaves, our canisters can accommodate anywhere from 30g – 240g of loose tea. Plus, they make great gifts. |
