Double Walled Server
Double Walled Server
Stoneware・Shino
This round server by ceramicist Wang Wen De is a wonderful piece to hold and to use. The curved sides form an oval that fits comfortably into the hand, leading to a precise spout with perfect, near-dripless water flow.
This piece is built of exceptionally thin stoneware clay and a double wall construction. This design creates a form that is deceptively light in comparison to it’s appearance, and in function prevents the outwall from overheating and burning the fingers during pouring. Brushed with a textural slip, then glazed with a bone white layer of thin shino, this piece features a beautiful crackle to its surface which will develop a patina with use.
*Please take note that each pot can be slightly different in color tone, texture, size, and shape. It is not unusual to have areas of thicker glazing, and or colorations that reflect the different interactions between the mineral content of the clay body and glaze. Each tea pot is different, and may not be identical to the photographed item.
