Double Walled Server, White
Double Walled Server, White
Wang Wen De is a master of visual tension. Throughout his work, soft lines play against geometry, and ethereality pairs with gravity. In this stoneware serving vessel, thin walls, and fine lines find a mirror in the delicate snowy tones of the glaze, its unpredictable nature a foil to the sharp lines of the clay. This contrast between delicate craftsmanship and the organic patterns of the natural materials keeps the eye in motion, a constant exploration of a beautiful form.
This piece is built of exceptionally thin stoneware clay and a double wall construction. This design creates a form that is deceptively light in comparison to its appearance, and in function prevents the outwall from overheating and burning the fingers during pouring. Brushed with a textural slip, then glazed with a bone white layer of thin white shino.
*Please take note that each server can be slightly different in color tone, texture, size, and shape. It is not unusual to have areas of thicker glazing, and or colorations that reflect the different interactions between the mineral content of the clay body and glaze. Each tea pot is different, and may not be identical to the photographed item. Each is beautiful.
