Celadon, No. 1
Celadon, No. 1
Stoneware・Celadon
The defining characteristic of this celadon tea bowl from artist Liao Guo Hua, is its finely tapered rim. This lip contrasts against the wider body, creating a visual tension, and intrigue, in the form.
The glaze is a soft, creamy celadon, its matte surface flecked with tiny spots of iron from the stoneware clay. The bottom side of the tea bowl is unglazed, and this change from smooth to softly textured can be felt while holding close a steaming cup of tea.
Approximate dimensions: 75mm tall, 115mm diameter, 300ml・Artist: 廖國華
