Glazed stoneware・Wood-fired
Icon of spring, herald of warmer days, the first cheering spots of color peeking through wintery boughs... Try as we might to enjoy each season in the moment, we find ourselves looking ahead to springtime year after year. We’re anticipating its arrival with a small series by Taiwanese potter, Liao Guo Hua.
Thrown from dark stoneware dipped in white slip, with a gossamer glaze and blush of iron-rich plum-chun, these teapots call to mind the blankets of cherry blossom petals that carpet streets from Paris to DC to Tokyo, prompting thousands of springtime pilgrims to their shores. Each of Liao Guo Hua’s pieces are exceptionally tactile, with striking balance and proportion. By no means quotidian, these are nonetheless pots for routine, daily use. We find ourselves reaching for the artist's work, again and again, imbuing a sense of ceremony and celebration into each morning brewing.
High-fired and fully glazed, these pots are suitable for all tea types. A series of holes behind the spout allows for quick, clean pouring. Hand wash, as needed, with a mild detergent.
