Snowmelt Chawan
Snowmelt Chawan
An engrossing texture of thickly applied shino glaze draws the hand to the surface of this incredibly tactile tea bowl from Taiwanese potter, Zhang Yun Cheng. Mounds and crevices break at random, a map of plateaus and canyons for fingers to follow. A prolonged submersion in dark tea has seasoned the glaze and clay, darkening webs of natural crazing, and adding an iridescent luster to the exposed stoneware.
This chawan is one of a kind.
Usage and care: To wash, simply rinse between uses or hand scrub with mild detergent.
