Beeswax Hohin
Beeswax Hohin
Simplicity of form is belied by expert craftsmanship in this shino and cobalt glazed hohin from Taiwanese artist, Zhang Yun Cheng. Quiet lines rise from foot to lip, elevated, visually, with a slight undercut on the pots base. Feathery rivulets bleed out from the repeated blue banding, lending a sense of movement and ethereal nature to the deft lines of the vessel.
Used in the same manner as a traditional gaiwan, hohins have the added benefit of a slight spout, allowing for simplified, dripless pouring.
Pictured is one in a series of similar pieces. Slight variations are possible from piece to piece, a hallmark of hand-made pottery.
Usage and care: Care: The interior of the server is glazed, and may be used with all tea types. To wash, simply rinse between uses or hand scrub with mild detergent.
