Mini Kyusu, Pear Ash Hachiya
Mini Kyusu, Pear Ash Hachiya
Stoneware・Pear ash shino・Camellia wood
This diminutive stoneware teapot was hand built by ceramicist Wang Wen De, using a special formulation of clay that creates breathtakingly thin, light pieces. The spout curves coquettishly away from the body, balanced on one end by a hand-carved handle made of camellia wood. The unique texture is the result of pear wood ash that was mixed into the glaze by the artist
Unlike Wang Wen De’s earlier work, this series was fully hand built rather than turned on a potter's wheel. Each pot exhibits the thumb and finger prints of its maker. The individual hand-carved notches are visible on the handle, each notch is an impression left by the artist.
*Please take note that each pot can be slightly different in color tone, texture, size, and shape. It is not unusual to have areas of thicker glazing, and or colorations that reflect the different interactions between the mineral content of the clay body and glaze. Each tea pot is different, and may not be identical to the photographed item.
Approximate dimensions: 75mm tall, 65mm diameter, 140ml capacity・Artist: 王文德
