Perfectly proportioned, this high rimmed tea bowl holds a considerable amount of tea, making it the perfect vessel for keeping at your desk and slowly nursing your favorite oolong throughout the day. Hand-cut facets and dimples around the wall make perfect grooves for holding in two hands.

The glaze is an unusual mix. Mercurial reds and browns drip around dark spots of iron, and thin into creamy areas of light green. The light green is continued on the inside of the pot, sprayed with ochre-colored freckles and beauty spots. The foot, unglazed, highlights the earthy richness bare clay achieves in the wood kiln, adopting a slight metallic sheen specked with the added sand and grog mixed into the clay.

About Tea Bowls

In Taiwan, tea bowls are often used to drink loose leaf tea. It's quite simple and works wonders on most of our teas.

Simply warm a tea bowl, add tea leaves, and add water. We suggest using 1 to 2 grams less tea than our normal recommended dosage. Fill the bowl 2/3 of the way to the top. Pour a steady stream of water over the leaves to help them settle to the bottom. Steep until leaves have just opened. Sip, and add more water if necessary.

Usage and care: Hand-wash only, mild detergent is ok.
