Teardrop Server
Teardrop Server
Stoneware・Matte white glaze
Wang Wen De is a master of visual tension. Throughout his work, soft lines play against geometry, and ethereality pairs with gravity.
In this teardrop-shaped server, the spout seems poised to take flight from the body of the vessel, its sharply defined rim at odds with its gently curves. A glaze of soft white shino undulates across the vessel, a rhythm across the soft hills and valleys left behind by the artist’s hand. These contrasts reads like the wing of a bird and keep the eye in motion, a constant exploration of a beautiful form.
*Please take note that each pot can be slightly different in color tone, texture, size, and shape. It is not unusual to have areas of thicker glazing, and or colorations that reflect the different interactions between the mineral content of the clay body and glaze. Each tea pot is different, and may not be identical to the photographed item.
