Glazed stoneware・Wood-fired

From Liao Guo Hua’s personal archive come sixteen masterful teapots that together chart the breadth and variation of two decades of atmospheric firings in the artist’s remote wood kiln.

Repeating circles form the profile of this pot, in much the same language as the shapes in a carefully balanced Calder mobile. Iron-rich grog mixed into the clay body rises to the surface of the glaze, expressing in a constellation of dark, round freckles, an unexpected, yet welcome addition to these repeating shapes. A tightly fitting lid, glazed interior, and honeycombed filter beneath the spout allow for quick, clean pouring.

With use, oils from tea will create a deepened color and luster on this pot's glazed surface. Signed by the artist.

Usage and care: This teapot is suit able for use with all tea types. Simply rinse between uses, or hand-wash without soap or detergent.

Approximate dimensions: 85mm tall, 75mm diameter, 205ml・Artist: 廖國華
