Hand-formed・Zhu ni (vermillion clay)・130ml

This is one of five pots we commissioned from a young and promising ceramicist named Pan Yi. We first met and worked with Ms. Pan in 2013, and were impressed by her genuine dedication to her craft, and her family’s artistic history. Her studio is located in Dingshan.

The Chinese name for this tea pot translates to mean palace lantern. Its classic shape is recalls traditional Chinese paper lanterns that lined palace halls. We commissioned only three pieces in this series. Each is crafted from Huang Long Shan “zhu ni” or vermillion clay.

Artist signature is carved into the underside of the teapot. Seven outlets arranged in a hexagonal pattern allow for quick drainage.

Usage and care: Thoroughly rinse particles of sand from the interior before use. Dedicate one tea type per pot. Eventually, a tea pot will be seasoned with the particular character of a tea. Hand-wash only without soap or detergent.

Dimensions: 60mm tall, 78mm diameter・Pot Name: 宮燈壺・Artist: 潘荑
