Stoneware・Hare's fur glazeWood-fired

This teapot is named for the glaze that covers its exterior. The heat of the wood fire kiln causes Hare’s Fur to run, pulling creamy streaks of rutile blue down towards the foot. You’ll notice this pot is glazed only three-quarters of the way down. This is in part, an aesthetic decision on the part of the artist, revealing the warm, metallic iridescence inherent to wood-fired clay, but also a practical choice. As hot ash hits the pot, the glaze travels further in places, creating long drips and runs that are impossible to predict, and best contrasted against the bare clay body. This pot is a prime example of the magical chemistry that exists within the realm of high fire glazes.

Usage and care: Glazed both inside and out, this teapot is suitable for use with all tea types. Simply rinse between uses.
