Glazed stoneware・5 day wood-fired
Liao Guo Hua’s Ash teapots are crafted from an oxide-rich American clay, then partially coated in black glaze. Vitrified fly ash on the top surfaces of these teapots add dimension and contrast. Each is hand-formed, and fired in a wood-kiln for 5 days.
Ash teapots are beautifully layered, with gray ash on top of black glaze on top of iron-toned clay. This particular teapot has a pale gray running drip of vitrified fly ash at the base of the handle. The interior is lightly glazed. The pot body is rounded - with a slight tapered bottom. A round finial graces the lid.
Usage and care: Hand-wash with water only.
