Stoneware・Matte white glaze・Camellia wood

This diminutive stoneware teapot was hand built by ceramicist Wang Wen De, using a special formulation of clay that creates breathtakingly thin, light pieces. The spout curves coquettishly away from the body, balanced against an elegant handle. The interior and exterior surfaces of this pot are covered in a matte white glaze.

Unlike Wang Wen De’s earlier work, this series was fully hand built rather than turned on a potters wheel. Each pot exhibits the thumb and finger prints of its maker. The individual hand-carved notches are visible on the handle, each notch is an impression left by the artist.
